After plans fell through with some friends for an out of town getaway, Nate and I mulled over our choices for what felt like weeks. Should we go away anyway? Should we stay in town but go out to a nice restaurant? should we just forget the whole thing? In the end we hosted our own date right at home.
After hanging Tulia's art show (here is the image for their exhibit card), we headed right back home to start cooking.
I took photos because I wanted to remember our night and here are some highlights. We started out by going shopping for food. We went to Mr. Bill's seafood and happened upon their raw oyster bar which nate and I decided to be brave enough to sample. Results? I liked them. very much! except that they are actually alive and i didn't realize that until much later and then I was grossed out. also, do you spy our new toothbrushes?
Scallops were the main dish. of course they were fantastic. roasted fennel and brussel sprouts on the side.
There was salad. There were 2 cocktails, French 75s and a whiskey and black currant cocktail.
There was NEW vinyl straight from Good Will!
and there was chocolate from the Miesse chocolate shop, handpicked by us both.
There was a great feeling of optimism and an unending TREAT YOURSELF vibe in the air like we had gone out instead of staying at home. It was a great date. It's nice to know that little simple nights like these make us so darn happy to be together. Nate, if you happen to read this, thank you. I had a wonderful time.
